TALKING ABOUT RESISTANCE

Posted by Dr Ana Garcia PhD, DTM. on May 9, 2012 at 17:30 0 Comments

I was in the office the other day and I noticed that my boss was talking and, all of a sudden, I didn’t feel the scenery of this conversation as I normally do.

I used to notice that he would say things that would underline issues of authority, power, control. And this bothered me, maybe because I was struggling with wanting to be a free soul.

Then I also felt that he would always check my face (and I guess, everyone else’s?) for a reaction of confirmation that I knew what he was talking about and if I didn’t react, he would grow impatient. I think he liked to know that I was in control of my job, which means that he could relax and didn’t need to worry that there could be a problem, or a gap in the department, and that he might need to spend some time and energy sorting it out. He wanted to know that he could trust me.

So then I thought to myself that if I could use a strategy of not showing a reaction in response to my feelings, I could…

TALKING ABOUT FREEDOM

Posted by Dr Ana Garcia PhD, DTM. on May 9, 2012 at 17:00 0 Comments

Sometime ago I read somewhere that even in the most severe cases of freedom deprivation (e.g. being in prison under nightmarish circumstances and for a long period of time) a prisoner has the capability to feel free.
How can this be?I wondered…

As I was thinking about it, the first thing that came to my mind was that you don’t have to be in prison to feel like a prisoner, the same as you don’t have to feel as a prisoner just because you are in prison. We can be in the outside world and still feel oppressed by all the demands and stresses of the world around us.

The next thing that came to my mind was the idea that
you must make space for everything you want to experience in your life. If you want more time, you have to make time; if you want more love, you have to give love first; if you want more money, you have to let go of the control of your own money, share it, create a flow of give and take, and have faith in the Universal Law of Abundance, which…

Brain Food

Brain Food

Diet and exercise are the two most critical components of successful brain training. When it comes to diet, the foods covered in this article are excellent options given their high percentages of antioxidants and essential fatty acids. All of the brain foods covered in this article have been carefully researched, so when possible, the mechanisms by which these foods create their effects will be discussed. However, before jumping straight into the particular foods, it is a good idea to discuss several terms that will appear repeatedly as a result of their close association with cognitive function.

Antioxidants and Free Radicals

The first and most important term one needs to be familiar with is “antioxidant.” To fully understand antioxidants, it is necessary to also discuss free radicals. Basically, free radicals are bad because they carry with them a single unpaired electron. If we think back to high school…

Fifteen minutes of kindness is all it takes.

Inspired by a story from one caring Capetonian on Meetup I wrote the following reply and sensed a complete affirmation that we really don't have to be Pros in order to share our empowering wealth, especially when that wealth is kindness, compassion and love.Sure there's an essential place for people with a proven reserve of empowering knowledge but there's lots of room for us ordinary folk too. Here's my reply to Lynn.    Hi Lynn,I applaud your compassion. If each of us were prepared to make a…Continue

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Started by Hest*r Will Apr 18. 0 Replies

An amazing opportunity presented itself, stretching and pushing me to the next level.  The danger zone challenging but so rewarding.  During many hours of writing and meditation I stumbled upon many more pearls of wisdom.  I have found a way to explain what I feel when I say I love.  Well LOVE is an attracting, uniting harmonising force of the universe.  It is the desire to support a person being all they can be.  The desire to help a person grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  When you…Continue

The underlying rationale for Motivate Cape Town.

Started by Shaun Lindbergh Mar 18. 0 Replies

It is hard to act like a champion when you feel like a loser. And it is virtually impossible to perform like a champion.Billions of dollars are spent every year on poverty relief, job creation and a host of other projects yet, in many instances very little is achieved. Billions of dollars are effectively wasted. So much so that the whole “Aid” issue is currently being hotly debated and new, more effective models demanded. The fatal flaw in most aid and development programmes is not so much the…Continue
